Good day, bad day, same day.

Highs and lows. They can come in the same day. One thing will happen that just makes your day followed by another event will just ruin it. Sometimes the bad is first followed by the good.

Wednesday was the good followed by the bad. And the bad came at the very end of the day. The good news was that finally after many many months of rumours it was finally announced that I'll be going back to Sprint. I currently work for IBM since Sprint "sold" me off, along with others, to IBM. Today I got my offer letter from Sprint and I sent it back already. I was very happy.

The bad came at 11:30 PM. I had my "new" van parked in the street, we live on a one-way, instead of in the drive way because the wife hadn't moved the other van up far enough. So, at 11:30 , I was upstairs reading when I heard squaling of tires, a huge crash and my car alarm go off. I don't really remember touching the floor as I ran across the room, down the stairs and out the front door all the while getting dressed. Too late to see who it was that most likely used a bat to destroy the driver's side mirror. The mirror was decimated. And I am pissed. I am still pissed.

Now, this may not sound like much to some. But what really pisses me off is that it was done on purpose and for no apparant reason. There's nothing to report to the insurance because of the deductible and no reason to call the police because there is no evidence. Let me tell you, it sucks to drive with no mirror on that side. And every time I looked at it, out of habit, I would get more mad. Now I'll be purchasing a video system to watch the street. I don't neccesarily plan on parking in the street if I can help it, but I want to be sure. Besides, I might catch them next time ... and they better hope I call the police then.

MLS Draft 2006.

Amidst a swirl of trade rumours and a new van purchase, the 2006 SuperDraft was held. Seems many were delighted when KC actually made a pick instead of trading it away. In fact, the team made 6 picks and traded none away. I showed up with others at Hoopers on Friday afternoon to watch an hour of coverage on FSC. We missed the first pick and didn't even get to see the entire first round(I think we saw the 9th pick). KC chose Yura Movsisyan from a city college, 18 yrs old, and apparantly a damn good player. Since he's a forward I expect we'll see a lot of him during June when Josh and Scott are off playing in Germany. Anyway, there were trade rumours around Josh Wolff for Eddie Johnson. Also some about getting Joe Cannon from the cRapids(little c is intentional) for who knows what... maybe Shavar and an allocation or draftpicks. Obviously the trade for draftpicks didn't happen however KC did call a "timeout" before drafting Yura and we all wondered what the hell was going on. Nice though to see that a game without timeouts has them for the draft, good job MLS. So, once the coverage ended I was off to buy my van. Needed one since some jackass did a hit-n-run on the other. Ended up with another 99 white Dodge Grand Caravan. The wife just rolled her eyes when I put off the purchase to watch a Draft that I was already recording. I even got a call from the dealer asking where we were while I was watching the Draft.

So, no trades as of yet. I still hope we get Joe Cannon. We drafted a forward (Yura), 3 midfielders, a defender and keeper. Technically I suppose we addressed all 4 areas. Either way, new van will be out at Arrowhead to take me to see the new players, if they play, for the new 2006 season.
